BIOGRAPHY
Initially simply a jazzman, Dutch saxophonist
Yuri Honing (1965) has widend his musical scope through collaborating with such great talents as Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden. Honing achieved his first international breakthrough with his trio recording 'Star Tracks', an album consisting only of pop songs. Another landmark recording was 'Seven', made in New York and featuring Paul Bley, Gary Peacock and Paul Motion, which received the prestigious Edison (Dutch Grammy) Award.
Nowadays Honing divides his attention between two groups: the
Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet and his electric band
Yuri Honing Wired Paradise. Both groups demonstrate Honing’s open mindedness, and find him bleding is jazz
Roots with his love for pop music, Arabic music and electronics; a process that he perfected during his career, producing 18 albums.
Honing never thinks of jazz as a style but as a language. He has toured in over seventy countries, with the greatest musical minds he can find to work with and learn from. His fine musical instinct add extra tension and depth to his songs. And so he continue to entertain and inspire audiences all over the world.

Op hoge snelheid, met fluitende en gierende tonen, maar de saxofonist oogde alsof het hem weinig inspanning kostte en toonde zich een meester over zijn instrument. The title track crossed the room in a murderous tempo and Honing started his solo ecstatically, just like on the album. White Tiger’ van Yuri Honing’s Wired Paradise is een live-registratie, die werd opgenomen tijdens de wereldtournee van de band in 2009. De balans op het album hangt door naar de rustiger stukken in laag tempo. De energie van de tijger is met deze live-registratie goed gevangen. Een tijger die slim en soepel beweegt maar geen onnodige energie verspeelt. Een tijger die om zijn prooi sluipt, klaar om met veel kracht toe te slaan. White Tiger of Yuri Honing Wired Paradise's is a live recording, which was recorded during the world tour of the band in 2009. The balance from this album leans towards the slower pieces . The energy of the tiger with this live recording is captured well. A tiger that is smart and moves smoothly, but does not forfeits any unnecessary energy.
