Violinist Rudolf Koelman turns 50 and plays Paganini stunningly!

Violinist Rudolf Koelman turns 50 and plays Paganini stunningly! His birthday, fifty years of age, on October 2nd, also marks another very special occasion: the release of the Paganini Violinconcertos (nos. 1 & 2) which Rudolf Koelman recorded Together with he Netherlands Symphony Orchestra and conductor Jan Willem de Vriend. He was one of the lucky ones to be teached by no other than Jascha Heifetz and the ‘Heifetzsound’ seems to come natural for him. Although that was something very profound and important in his career, also his mentor, violinist Herman Krebbers was a key figure in his life. Koelman was concertmaster with the Orchestra of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam For Two years. Now he works at the Conservatory in Zürich in Switzerland and plays concerts all over the world beside his teachings. Koelman has already had a excellent career so far, but he is only fifty, so many is yet to come. For the promotion of his new cd, Koelman was in Amsterdam for a short visit, and he played for AVRO’s radioprogramme Spiegelzaal on Sundaymorning October 4th. There he moved the public and listeners with an astounding performance of Paganini’s Cantabile, Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice in a arrangement by Heifetz ánd a great shoedance by the Spanish composer/violinist Pablo de Sarasate. You can watch the radioprogramme  Spiegelzaal by webcam here or GO to the culture website of Cultura

The next appearance of Rudolf Koelman, this time on National Dutch television, will be on 15th or 22nd of November in thé programme about music: Vrije Geluiden.
