Positive review for Rudolf Koelman on Klassik-heute.com

The well-known and important classic website klassik-heute.com has published a review of the cd of Rudolf Koelman and the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra with conductor Jan Willem de Vriend.

"The Dutch violinist Rudolf Koelman, one of the last students of Jascha Heifetz and up to 1999 first concertmaster of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra,  has a perfect technique on his instrument and plays the soloparts rectilinear and with an always existing seductive euphony. The orchestral tutti ...are somewhat flat, but the accompaniment of the soloists by the Orchestra is done carefully, rhytmically and sonically flawless"

The points that the website gives this production (from 1-10):
Artistical quality: 8
Soundquality: 7
Overall opinion: 8

That is not bad at all for these Paganini violinconcertos which are played by Koelman with a clear vision of the story which he wants to tell to his audience. This beside the fact that these Concertos are technically extremely difficult to play. But Koelman is beyond the technical side of this music. Way beyond and above!
