Anton Goudsmit wins Boy Edgarprijs 2010
Thursdaynight January 14th it was announced in the Dutch national televisionprogramme De Wereld Draait Door, that jazzguitarplayer Anton Goudsmit will win the Boy Edgar Award 2010!
Guitarist, composer and bandleader Goudsmit will receive this most precious and important Dutch award in the field of jazz and improvised music. It consists of a plastics by famous Dutch writer and artist Jan Wolkers and Goudsmit will receive € 12.500,-.
The VPRO/Boy Edgar Award 2010 will be handed out to Anton Goudsmit on April 26th 2010 with a festive programme in the Bimhuis in Amsterdam.
The jury about Anton Goudsmit:
“The jury has come to her decision because of the appreciation she has for the catching and always unpredictable character of [his] music which is also full of humour.
"Anton knows how to impress both young ánd older listeners. A musician who has a creative input in the most divers musical situations and always stays True to himself: recognizable, energetic, inventive."
"He is versaitile and moves musically speaking between popmusic, jazzmusic, chamberjazz, improvised music and grooving funk. "
“A real 'bands-man': and that means that he exactly feels and understands what jazz and improvised music are all about (or should be about) and that is playing TOGETHER. Where teamwork and inventiveness between bandmembers are more important than a solo performance of one of them."
