Steve Hobbs #1 in US National Airplay Charts
We're very proud to announce that Vibraphonist Steve Hobbs has reached the #1 in this weeks National Airplay Charts in the USA with his album 'Vibes, Straight Up'. It took the album, which was released on Challenge Records last year, two weeks to climb up to the #1 position. Vibes, Straight Up leaves new albums from the Gerald Wilson Orchestra and Jeff Hamilton Trio behind. This chart info was presented to us by mediaguide Jazzweek.
Congratulations to Steve Hobbs with this great result and we are looking forward to what next week charts will bring.
"Steve Hobbs has long been one of the most talented, if underrated, vibraphonists around."
Scott Yanow, All Music Guide, 2007
"With Steve Hobbs, there are no gimmicks or bizarre hybrids, just world-class jazz playing. He plays vibraphone and marimba with great panache and his improvisations are full of delightfully unpredictable curves and angles."
Dave Gelly, The London Observer, 2001

Hello Challenge Records,
I have heard a lot of Jazz in my life, but this morning
I heard one of the best versions of Cherokee ever.
It was by Steve Hobbs and I heard it on Jazz After Hours.
Thanks for putting that record out!!
