North Sea Jazz Festival this weekend!
Here is the updated programme of North Sea Jazz Festival 2010 concerning Challenge (and releated) artists.
This year, Challenge Records will be represented through a great deal of artists: Joris Posthumus Quartet, Jungle Boldie, The Ploctones, Eric Vloeimans Fugimundi, Blazin´ Quartet, Artvark , Bob Brookmeyer and Timuçin Sahin Quintet.
Fugimundi: Eric Vloeimans' band with Anton Goudsmit en Harmen Fraanje has made a worldtour with Live at Yoshis and will tof course play on the festival

On NSJF: Friday July 9 -Hudson - 17.15 h
Joris Posthumus' debut-album The Abyss was released this spring.
On the Abyss, it stands out how the chemistry, tension and interaction between Posthumus, Van Vliet, Juriaan Dekker and Pascal Vermeer come Together in a beautiful weaving piece. Nine songs of modern hard bop (now-bop) in which the melody and a certain accessibility stand at the heart." Amanda Kuyper - NRC Handelsblad
On NSJF: Friday July 9 -Volga - 23.00 h
Timuçin Sahin is, according to San Francisco Bay Guardian, AllaboutJazz, Jazzwise, Jazz-Times and many others, as a unique voice in the contemporary jazzscene of today.

The 81 year old Bob Brookmeyer is still Alive and kicking. His most recent CD with Challenge was a 'giant' production with the famous Metropole Orchestra and the Klimt Quartet: 'Music For String Quartet & Orchestra'
"Only a few of the acknowledged giants of orchestral writing still toil in the recording studio, and Brookmeyer stands among the best of them." - LA Times - Howard Reich.
On the festival Brookmeyer conducts the New Art Orchestra and plays trombone
On NSJF: Saturday July 10 - Hudson - 17.15 h
They just released their first album under the new name of Jungle Boldie. "With Jungle Boldie the trio started a new chapter of a musical adventure that has been lasting for over 20 years now. The fact that this is a real trio, makes this album a feast for the ears." HP
On NSJF: Saturday July 10 -Yenisei - 20.30 h
The Ploctones have been really succesfull with their album 050. "Only a few bands can play a lot different kinds of music and bring it so convincing with their own sound." André Dadi, Jazz
On NSJF: Saturday July 10 - Yukon - 23.30 h
The Blazin´Quartet are Together since 2008 and released ´Finding The Way´ with Challenge Records. In the same year 2008 the quartet was the winner of the Dutch Jazz Competition.

Artvark Saxophone Quartet is a very innovative quartet with its own repertoire and comprised of four strong soloists who also can create a beautiful unity ánd a adventurous groove. This is so clear in their new debut CD with Challenge Records: 'Truffles'
