Eric Vloeimans' Fugimundi big succes at North Sea 2010
Eric Vloeimans' Fugimundi gave a dreamy, steamy, hot gig at North Sea Jazz this year. Not only the music was hot and steamy, but the Eric, Anton, Harmen and the audience of about 1500 people, were as well. But most of the people stayed -although it was so terribly hot in the 'Hudson'- and watched the whole concert. This shows how popular Eric and his trio are.
Dutch national paper NRC writes: " Lovely, dreamy music, with every now and then sturdy cries. Only Vloeimans can create a trumpetsound so beautifully soft..."
8Weekly: " An Arabesque little trumpet begins a tango, and Goudsmit and Fraanje find each other perfectly. Sweet melancholy takes the listener away. "
Radio 6 " Fugimundi is captivating. Often sober, romantic but very rich music, like the opening piece ' Phillip', written by Harmen Fraanje as a Homage to gitarist Phillip Catherine. But the trip can also do jagged grooving, despite the abscence of the drums"
Dutch national paper Volkskrant: " The band plays like a beautiful fluent unity. The melodical and melancholy lines of bandleader Eric Vloeimans, the crazy but restraint guitarchords of VPRO Boy-Edgar Award winner Anton Goudsmit and the dreamy, intense playing of pianist Harmen Fraanje, touch each other in a inexhaustible differentiation of emotions."
