Open-air concert of Combattimento Consort on the Grachtenfestival

The Grachtenfestival presents in collaboration with Combattimento Consort Amsterdam the original version of Water Music. This famous composition by Georg Friedrich Händel will be performed live in the open-air on August 18th at  18.00 hours by Combattimento Consort Amsterdam and Jan Willem de Vriend.

The location is very appropriate: the Keizersgracht, at the level of festivalcentre Felix Meritis. It is the first time that Water Music will be performed in the Amsterdam Canals. Händel composed his Water Music in 1717 for a trip of King George I on the Theems. Just like in Händels time the musicians will play on boats. This very feastly composition is still very popular to this day!

The concert is for free, the audience needs no tickets!

See the nice videoclip of Jan Willem de Vriend playing on a boat in the Amsterdam Canals, promoting this very special concert.
