The Winterruption
…was our departure to Vancouver where the tour started. The Winterruption, a jazzfestival organized by Ken Pickering, a major organizer from the Coastal Jazz & Blues. A flight of 9 hours and a time diffference of 9 hours. A flight in which for the first time in my life I watched 3 movies. The Belgian masterpiece ‘De helaasheid der dingen’ impressed me very much. We arrived in Vancouver at 17.30. Immediately we found out that the people from Canada are very kind, such a difference with U.S. customs. Because of the Olympics all the hotels were sold out long ago and that’s why our hotel was way out of the city. Never mind. Our stay in Canada would be less than 24 hours. The moment we got into the hotel we met our friends from the band Zuco 103. Very funny. A few drinks and not too early to bed. And all three of us woke up at 5 am. Jetleg had started. Our concert was at 12.30. We played one long set for an enthousiastic audience of around 150 people. Ken invited us immidiately to come back for the summer festivals. WOW! Good news!
