Detroit
Today is a big travelday again. Lobbytime 7.15 !
The first flight is from San Diego to Phoenix and our scond flight is from Phoenix to Detroit with a time difference of three hours. We arrived local time in Detroit at 19.00. We picked up a car with a GPS system which was lost immediately. Luckily a nice lady at Starbucks assisted us very sweetly. That is not a big issue in this country. Almost everybody in this country is kind and helpful and I feel that in most of the cases it is not a pretense, but really meant.
That night we went out for dinner at the Holiday Inn – the only place within walking distance that was still open - Mexican food and a wonderful live band, playing country music, Joe Cocker, the Beatles and of course the Blues. They were very good. In fact it was a benefit for the Haiti hurricane. It was a kind of atmosphere that you never would get in Holland. Funny and cool!!!!! We got to talking with one of the musicians (David, bass guitar, who looked like a movie actor from the 40’s), and he in fact showed up at our gig the next evening ! He told us that until a year or two ago the band was playing every weekend, but that times have gotten very hard.
